On the relation between Lyapunov exponents and exponential decay of correlations

چکیده
Chaotic dynamics with sensitive dependence on initial conditions may result in exponential decay of correlation functions. We show that for onedimensional interval maps the corresponding quantities, that is, Lyapunov exponents and exponential decay rates are related. For piecewise linear expanding Markov maps observed via piecewise analytic functions we provide explicit bounds of the decay rate in terms of the Lyapunov exponent. In addition, we comment on similar relations for general piecewise smooth expanding maps. PACS numbers: 05.45.Ac, 02.60.Gf, 02.30.Tb Submitted to: J. Phys. A: Math. Gen.

Lyapunov Exponents and Rates of Mixing for One-dimensional Maps
We show that one dimensional maps f with strictly positive Lyapunov exponents almost everywhere admit an absolutely continuous invariant measure. If f is topologically transitive some power of f is mixing and in particular the correlation of Hölder continuous observables decays to zero. The main objective of this paper is to show that the rate of decay of correlations is determined, in some sit...

The origin of chaotic behaviour of a dynamical system in the sense of sensitive dependence on initial conditions is the action of a certain group. We are used to the importance of a group from the theory of relativity and in fact this group happens to be a subgroup of the Poincare group. Physical consequences like sensitive dependence on initial conditions or exponential decay of time correlati...
متن کاملStatistical Properties of Dynamical Systems With Some Hyperbolicity
This paper is about the ergodic theory of attractors and conservative dynamical systems with hyperbolic properties on large parts (though not necessarily all) of their phase spaces. The main results are for discrete time systems. To put this work into context, recall that for Axiom A attractors the picture has been fairly complete since the 1970’s (see [S1], [B], [R2]). Since then much progress...
متن کاملStability of two classes of improved backward Euler methods for stochastic delay differential equations of neutral type
This paper examines stability analysis of two classes of improved backward Euler methods, namely split-step $(theta, lambda)$-backward Euler (SSBE) and semi-implicit $(theta,lambda)$-Euler (SIE) methods, for nonlinear neutral stochastic delay differential equations (NSDDEs). It is proved that the SSBE method with $theta, lambdain(0,1]$ can recover the exponential mean-square stability with some...
